On November 26, 2008, Mumbai was held hostage by 10 gunmen who attacked six locations: Leopold Café, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Cama Hospital, Nariman House, and Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which faces the iconic Gateway of India.
Indians, and foreign nationals from 14 countries, were among those who perished during the 60-hour carnage, bringing the total number of civilians killed to 166. The Mumbai Police also lost 16 of its brave sons, including ATS Chief, and the ACP, Mumbai – East Region, as did the NSG Commando who lost one of their most dedicated officers.
